Country roads are essential components of rural landscape, often bad considered because they make difficult cars' mobility. Actually they were not conceived and built as fast tracks for cars: for this reason they are considered an obstacle, a relic of the past, a problem... Often they are paved to cancel these defects making them "modern" that is up to date to the cars' needs (maybe a SUV)...
Nonetheless, country roads have a peculiar fascination made of a mix of sensations: the sound of stones and ground under the shoes, the colours of land (opposed to the asphalt grey), the green grass stripe in the middle as a spine...
Despite the summer dust and the winter mud, country roads are ideal place where walking, definitively less tiring than the stiff paved roads. Usually, being created along the plots' borders, country roads never proceed straight to a definite destination, but showing a sort of inner apparently irrational deviousness, but perfectly rational within the context and landscape where they are placed.
Country roads are lost places, climbing uphill, moving into forrests, passing aside country houses and farms, vineyards, olive groves, with their crossroads, populated by herds and flocks going on them...
While I slowly walk on a solitary country roads, trees are always looking at me...
Slowness is quintessential in country roads...
They are metaphors of life...
